Long overdue picture post 5: Austin, TX

Although radio stations change to K suffixes as soon as you cross the Mississippi, the land is not truly western till you reach Texas. We have, by now, spent a full two days just driving (at fairly high speeds, I may add) through TX. Our midway stop was in Austin. The one, tiny, blue spot in the red sea of Texas. We stayed in a really funky, seventy year old motel.

Nice grillage on the UT campus.

Capitol, with church in foreground.

Rare bumper sticker collectible.

George Bush, in drag, dragging his dog for a walk outside Jo's. See below.

Jo's a great coffee place, right-next door to our motel.

Official transportation for the motel.

At dinner, right after arriving. Guererro's. Mexican.

  1. Wasnt Austin and its surroundings fun? It IS a little oasis in the vast expanse of Texas, no wonder they call it the 'hill country'.

  2. Austin was great. Wish, like every other place on this trip, we could have spent a little more time there.
