Long overdue picture post 3: Nawlins

The big easy happened, as have all others so far, late in the evening. We spent most of the daylight hours on a slow Georgia back road (US 84, pics in the last post) and then got on I-10 after nightfall. Ended up reaching New Orleans after midnight. Stayed in a wonderful little hotel in the French Quarter - St. Pierre - some unintentionally overexposed pics capture the feel of the place nicely. This was a return for Mamta and I, from when the kids weren't around. We had been there with Amitabh and Sunita - friends we will be staying with in LA - in the nineties! A lot of the Katrina damage remains unattended to. FQ, though, seems in good physical shape. But in the midst of a real estate market collapse. For Sale signs every where you turn.
